My Mother was a woman libber before it became popular. Mom was a political junkie who turned C-Span on early in the morning and left it on all day. Back in 1992 when she was 74, she proudly wore a "Year of the women" t-shirt.
Mom worked tirelessly for women running for office in her small city in Illinois. When it became impossible for her to live alone I brought her out to California to live with us for the last two and half years of her life.
Every time Mom saw Senator Durbin on TV she would say:"That's MY senator." Mom died six years ago, but I can just hear her say with so much pride when President Obama is on TV....THAT'S MY PRESIDENT.
