I'm glad we spared the kids, but we can't go easy on every dirtbag just because they happen to have procreated! That's basically called hiding behind your family--the mafia does it all the time. "Sure, I killed lots of innocent people--but I got a wife and three kids of my own! Go easy on me, your honor!"

By aiding and abetting a known international terrorist and murderer, their parents chose to put them in DIRECTLY in harms way. It's a shame about the kids losing their parents, but they were pretty much screwed from the day they were allowed to enter the bunker.
