14. My neice does.
Had cancer at 2, is now 14. 90% of those with her cancer die. So the insurer basically said "she's dead, and we won't pay for ant of it."

My sister fought, the insurance company fought back to not cover treatment. My sister was able to get the hospitals to treat my neice, and my sister ran up huge debts.

In the end, after ~4 years, and it became clear that my niece was going to survive, the insurance company "settled" ... not for what they should have paid (my sister had insurance from the start), but for enough that my siste basically had to take the settlement or declare bankruptcy.

For YEARS after, my sister was only able to get my niece "basic coverage", colds, flu, you fall of the swing and break an arm ... but NOTHING for a return of the cancer ...

Now, my niece is fully covered again. If her cancer came back, or if she gets a new cancer, she's covered. Oh, and as she ages, it is likely that the treatments she received as a kid may have effected her reproductive ability. And it will be covered.
