| 127. Writing in candidates names is generally dumb, but exponentially more so in a Presidential contest |
|
in the US.
The electoral college system makes it impossible for a third party candidate to win. Even a third party vote is meaningless. Writing in a name is like not voting. You know your vote has zero impact other than the fact that if the worst possible of the two major candidates wins, you could have helped the other one.
It would make much more sense and be much more intellectually honest for those interested in third party and write in votes to spend time working for groups who are trying to eliminate the electoral college system and things like instant runoff voting and forget about voting entirely.
