3. Why not?
Edited on Tue Nov-17-09 02:42 AM by avaistheone1
Sibel was not masterminding the operation, she was interpreting documents and communications. Why would it require more than 6 months given the information was all spelled out in the materials she was translating? Clearly AG Ashcroft believed Edmonds had very valuable information because he used the State Secrets Privilege against by Edmonds.

Furthermore:

- An internal FBI investigation, however, has concluded that she was fired after making "valid complaints"

Regarding 9/11

She alleges that the FBI received information in April 2001, from Behrooz Sarshar,<11> one of its Farsi translators, that Osama Bin Laden was planning attacks on 4-5 cities with planes, some of the people were already in the country and the attacks would happen in a few months.<12><13>

Regarding nuclear proliferation and official corruption

She alleges that she found evidence that people in the FBI, the State Department,<14> the RAND corporation, the Pentagon, and Congress were recruited by a Turkish and Israeli-run criminal intelligence network, with connections to Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, to steal nuclear weapons secrets.<15>

She alleges that the FBI has a case file, 203A-WF-210023, detailing evidence of this.<16>
She alleges that one high-ranking member of the State Department<14> was selling classified information to Washington-based agents of the Republic of Turkey, who were in turn selling these secrets on the black market.<7>

She alleges that one recruit in the State Department warned this criminal intelligence network that Brewster Jennings & Associates was a counter-proliferation operation run by the CIA, and to not get involved with them.<17>

She alleges that Fethullah Gülen, whom she believes to be a threat to the U.S., was given safe haven in the U.S. by the U.S. in order to try to gain influence over energy sources in Central Asia.<18>

Regarding the administration of the translation office

She alleges that the FBI sent to Guantanamo as its Turkish translator a man not proficient in English,<19> and who was hired as a result of nepotism.

Many of Edmonds' accusations have been corroborated by anonymous letters allegedly written by FBI employees.

Despite being on the job little more than 6 months evidently Edmonds was working with explosive material given:
On August 15, 2002, a separate suit, Burnett v. Al Baraka Investment & Dev. Corp., was filed by families of 600 victims of the September 11, 2001 (9/11) attacks against Saudi banks, charity organizations, and companies.<24><25><26> Although the claims were eventually dismissed,<27> Edmonds was to file a deposition in this case.<28> On May 13, 2004, Ashcroft submitted statements to justify the use of the State Secrets Privilege against the planned deposition by Edmonds.<28> The same day, the FBI took the unprecedented step of retroactively classifying as Top Secret all of the material and statements that had been provided to the Senate Judiciary Committee in 2002 relating to Edmonds' own lawsuit, as well as the letters that had been sent by the Senators and republished by POGO.<23>

I don't believe for a moment that ACLU would have wasted their time petitioning the Supreme Court on her behalf if they felt Sibel Edmonds assertions were not true.

I think the preponderance of the evidence points to honesty and courage of Sibel Edmonds.
