I'm sure the Palins are uncomfortable with the idea of journalistic scrutiny, and will pimp the meme of McGinnis as voyeur/molester to sell their victimhood and to deflect criticism, but so far he doesn't seem to have actually done any of the things you're imagining/predicting.

We don't know that McGinnis "wants to be close to her 24/7," and as I've opined elsewhere, I do see a little journalistic value in soaking up the vibe of the neighborhood. Palin would be the first to whine about being taken out of context, after all.

I'll agree with you this far: moving next door to one's subject is at least potentially creepy. I would hope that McGinnis can stand a little scrutiny himself as he does something nearly unique in journalism. We can bet, for example, that the Palins will hire a private investigator of their own--and up to a point, there's nothing wrong with that.
