Cuban Artists Nominated for 2009 Latin Grammy

Cuban rumba band "Los muñequitos de Matanzas", Cuban musician Jesus "Chucho"
Valdes and singer Omara Portuondo have just been nominated for 2009 Latin
Grammy, to announce winners on Nov. 5. Cuban band Los muñequitos de Matanzas,
one of the best representatives of rumba music in the island, were nominated in
the category of Folkloric Album with the one "D palo pa rumba".

Valdes, a winner of five Grammys already, is again a nominee in Latin Jazz with
the album "Juntos para siempre", recorded as a duet with his father Bebo Valdes.

Portuondo competes with her album "Gracias" in the category of Best Contemporary
Tropical Album. Colombian Coronel (Supersticion), Sin animo de lucro Band (Todo
pasa por algo), Dominicans Eddy Herrera (Paso firme) and Daniel Santacruz (Radio
rompecorazones) are nominated in the same category.
