184. Some people just don't want to face facts
Edited on Tue May-29-07 09:25 AM by Jennicut
All politicians watch their own butts first. Name me one that doesn't. Al Gore doesn't count as he is offically not one anymore. This whole ridiculous war has gotten so obviously out of control. The majority of Americans (at least according to current polls) want this war to end now if not soon. And yet if any of us here criticize a Democrat others here get outraged and "Oh my God, its DU. Democratic Underground. You can't do that here. We don't allow Democrats to be under the same mircoscope as Rethugs!" Its so so dumb. We all want change. Maybe not a third party but we want the Dems to listen to us. And yet because we have only two parties in the United States we have no recourse when neither listen to us (and the Rethugs NEVER will so they are written off automatically). I don't want Rethugs elected because we failed to support Dems. But at the same time, we have no way to hit the Dems where it hurts when they don't respond to us: vote them out. We can't let in Retuhgs as obviously to me they only care about themselves. But having no third party means we can't threated the Dems to respond to us the way we as voters want. I think Cindy Sheehan simply got frustrated and disillusioned and has given up because she sees no way to get the Dems to respond to her and others who want this war over. The only way would be to impeach the idiot as he won't listen any other way. Of course almost no politician wants to risk trying to do this because if it backfires then they might be out of a job and have lost their access to power. Sighs. I don't know what the answer is. I'm just a 31 year old mother of two little girls. Maybe someone else out there has a better idea than me. It just seems to me that like Al Gore says we have lost our ability to reason in this country. If George W. was president 25 or 30 years ago he would be fried, strung up and thrown out. But in 2007 we just sit like bumps on a log (some Americans anyways) and let things happen to us. I really believe we don't have a Democracy anymore. Its a Plutocracy, ruled by a few powerful people. And we the American people really have no power.
