and never pretended to be anything else. She's not some slick, polished member of a PAC who's been living and breathing political theory all her life and going about her business with a wall of cynicism to protect her - she's just a regular woman, a mom, an everyday person who got outraged and decided to try to do something about it.

Funny how we criticize politicians for being slick and professional and aloof from painful realities yet a person with real passion is described as "amateurish" and her absolutely, unabashed real emotions hard to take.

What is it we want in our activists anyway? I've read many things Cindy Sheehan has written and while I might not agree with everything she's said, she's a person who has a valid axe to grind - not one of money or influence but a gut realization of what the cost of this war is. Yet in this era of impeccable television commentators and talking heads, rich career politicians and glib spokespeople, it seems few can appreciate a plain, regular, everyday, outraged citizen.
