I think probably his whole pompous attitude, plus attacking other Dems, made him vulnerable to being upbraided in general.
Which I'm not saying he didn't deserve for the whole tenor of his remarks.

On the other side, he was giving his lowdown on other Dems, probably expected to be unattributed background negatives on his fellow primary candidates, to a reporter. Who then turned around and broadcast his very audio on the internet. I'm guessing that's what went down based on the remarks themselves, which is not something Biden, who is usually diplomatic, would likely do if he thought they were going directly to video. I'm sure he thought his remarks were between he and the reporter as far as actual quotes. Which is a lesson for every other Dem when talking to reporters now.

But regardless, his overall sniping at Dems, including my candidate, doesn't earn him a racist tag when the remarks themselves, when listened to, support no such interpretation. I have to stick up for him on that.
