Of course I don't think anybody here would mean to insult an infant with Down Syndrome, but nevertheless, the OP did state that Bristol's comment showed the ugly personalities of all of the Palins. And Trig is a Palin. This is what my real beef is here. Even if the OP didn't intend to insult the child, it could certainly be spun and perceived that way. And as you know, spin and perception can go a long way in politics.
Yes I know, this is the internet and it doesn't matter and all that. But I think it's dangerous for Democrats to criticize Palin's family. I really believe it can only help her, so I don't see anything to gain by dong it. Like I said in an earlier post, perhaps this is one of the reasons that she's put her family out there -- to lure her opponents into a trap, since criticizing them has the potential to increase sympathy for her. Cynical? Yes. Effective? Maybe, maybe not. But why risk finding out?
