7. Overall Education And Organizing
As the parent of several teachers, honestly, I'd prefer politics staying out of both the classroom and the school system. The place where help is definitely needed is in the unions. People talk about the golden days of FDR and JFK/LBJ and those were times when union membership was far higher than today and thus gave them a greater voice in policy and in the election process. That's all but vanished in the past 30 years. One would think that in such tough times people would be seeking the unity and protections unions can offer but instead they've been fed years of anti-union propaganda on the corporate media and, unfortunately, some unions that became country clubs for the elite members and did little while jobs were being lost.
