When corporations suck up the common, it's called "primitive accumulation". It's how they get to be capitalists in the first place: you buy a road with your tax money, then your fucked up government sells it to a corporation to "maintain", then you pay for-profit tolls to some company on land you collectively bought with your neighbors.
