61. Because the county does not offer FD protection
In the main thread there are numerous links to the county government Apparently they used to charge a fee but there was no way for the fire department to legally collect it.

I am all for having a FD tax, but in situations where a FD tax does not exist there is a fee to be paid.

You cannot buy health insurance that will pay after you are already sick; or auto insurance that will pay after a car accident.

The system is not perfect and this county did not tax for a FD, it's that simple.
