We don't know what would have happened if they came out strong for single payer and then accepted PO as a compromise. We don't know what would have happened if they twisted arms like removing Lieberman's chairmanships. We don't know what would have happened if they actually fought.

But they didn't and now rather than making the republicans look obstructionist they've made the dems look weak.

And it's going to hurt us all over the next two years.
