Confusing people with facts is never a good way to win friends and influence people. Don't you know people love to take shots at Starbucks? Your observation is true for my neck of the woods also. Not to mention the fact that when I'm out and looking for a cup of coffee in the evening the independent shops are all closed and dark with their chairs neatly up-ended on their tables while Starbucks is lit up and open for business. This is why I never like to hear a bunch of sniveling from the shops about the big bad corporation putting them out of business. I'd happily shop independent, but you need to open the doors in order for me to do that.
