Personally, I do not do and would not use social networking sites and do not have a cell phone nor use IM (nor IRC though I did some in the 1990s).

Some is personal or web site biased and petty, other instances are covert to influence the body politic by concentrations of power and money and of individuals or cabals of psychological nature. Tinfoil hat maybe, but more likely a product of human nature gone steroid by electronics, fossil fuel, and global crisis in science, economy, social justice, environment, and religion / spirituality.
