131. Wow .... they don't think the "big picture" is corporatism, huh???
Thanks for all the reminders of what we truly are -- and strive to be --

and the great liberals who have tried to help us all -- many known, many unknown.

Feels good to remember!!

Fighting for the rights and dignity of others - journalists, social workers, community organizers, labor leaders, educators, lawyers, political leaders, campaign workers, civil rights advocates, writers, musicians, artists, workers, visionaries, idealists, and the like.

These people who see a larger picture and recognize us as a connected whole. People who feel the hunger of the poor, the cold of the homeless, the pain of the untreated, the suffering of the refugee and do something about it.

Upon reflection, Tom Joad in the Grapes of Wrath would be considered a member of the Professional Left when he left his family to fight for social justice:

“I’ll be all around in the dark. I’ll be ever’-where – wherever you can look. Wherever there’s a fight so hungry people can eat, I’ll be there. Wherever there’s a cop beatin’ up a guy, I’ll be there. I’ll be in the way guys yell when they’re mad – I’ll be in the way kids laugh when they’re hungry an’ they know supper’s ready. An’ when the people are eatin’ the stuff they raise, and livin’ in the houses they build – I’ll be there, too.”

The Professional Left - long may they prosper. And may those who snarkily denigrate them and their goals be damned.
