54. Wow! Asbestos removal is serious business ...
Edited on Fri Jul-23-10 03:47 PM by spin
We had some removed where I worked at. It was a BIG deal and all sorts of precautions were taken to protect the workers and the company employees.

Glad to see that you reported it to OSHA and won your lawsuit when you were fired. I can say that the company I worked for was very safety conscious. They were far from perfect, but better than most companies.

Retirement is good. I thought I would have a hard time finding things to do when I retired and fully expected to get so bored that I would find another job. I used to joke that I would end up as a greeter at Walmart or asking people if they wanted to "Supersize" their order. That hasn't happened.

I'm lucky in the sense that I have a small pension, a 401(k) that has turned into a 201(k) and social security. Fortunately I own everything. I can't travel around the world or take a vacation in Hawaii, but I have little interest in doing that anyway.

Reading, watching the news and posting here on DU helps make my life interesting. I finally have time to study history, and mythology, subjects I find fascinating.

I also am lucky enough to live with my daughter, son in law and my two grandsons. We bought a big old house that was once a hotel. Occasionally we open up a room for a friend in need of a place to stay for a short time. There's lot of activity in the old hotel. The occasional drama also keeps my life interesting.

Edited to add comments about retirement.
