I've never hated anyone as much as I hated Reagan. I read that he had died late one evening after spending all day at Magic Kingdom. I really felt nothing at all about it. But if I'd have had to see tributes to him, I'd have screamed, too. :) So I'm hoping I can miss all that when Cheney dies, too. And I'm not predicting it to happen early, nor hoping it happens early. If anything, I wish him a long life with much time for soul searching. I wish him a long period of understanding with his daughter, I wish him a period of redemption. I firmly hope he does in 60 years, with plenty of time to reflect onhis life and to understand the evil deeds he committed and a chance to see history degrade and undo all the evil he brought to this world. The only thing about his death that would bring me joy would be for him to have repented of and denounced his life's work, his mistaken ideology, and to have mourned all the pain and suffering he has caused. The only good death is a death like Lee Atwater's, where he saw clearly what he had done and worked to at least apologize for it for the remainder of his time. That's the only death I can celebrate, and it's more a celebration of his becoming decent before he dies. I'm not even being altruistic or benevolent there, because I know there is a large amount of grief and suffering in understanding one's evils like that.
