After Words: Robert McGovern, author of "All American: Why I Believe in Football, God, and the War in Iraq" interviewed by Jack Kemp

Robert McGovern was working as a prosecutor in the office of Manhattan District Attorney Robert Morgenthau on September 11, 2001 when the Twin Towers fell. A former linebacker in the National Football League and a member of the Army Reserve, Capt. McGovern immediately requested to be mobilized for active duty. Since that time Robert McGovern has advised battlefield commanders on the legal rules of engagement in Afghanistan and has prosecuted terrorist suspects in Iraq. Capt. McGovern contends that the war in Iraq should not be abandoned and relays his experiences on the ground to establish his argument. Robert McGovern discusses his book with former Republican Congressman Jack Kemp.

Robert McGovern is a judge advocate general in the U.S. Army's 18th Airborne Corps. He was a linebacker in the National Football League and following his football career attended Fordham University law school. He was a prosecutor in Manhattan District Attorney Robert Morgenthau's office prior to his current military career. Jack Kemp is a former Republican Congressman who represented parts of Western New York from 1971 to 1989. He was appointed to serve as Secretary of Housing and Urban Development from 1989 to 1993. Prior to his political career Mr. Kemp played professional football for thirteen years in the American Football League with the Buffalo Bills and San Diego Chargers. He was named the leagues most valuable player in 1965. Mr. Kemp is currently head of Kemp Partners, a consulting firm.
