157. Who expects you to celebrate? I served as a soldier for nearly 30
years and usually sit home and read on Independence Day. That said, I am fully aware of the terrible risk that the people who signed the Declaration took. They literally put their lives in jeopardy as rebels against their sovereign. As an aside, part of my family was in America in 1776, but had just arrived in Nova Scotia the year before when Boston was evacuated by the Brits. They supported King and Parliament and considered themselves loyal English subjects.
