| 38. Political theater, nothing more. These GOP politicians need to position |

themselves as having 'attempted to reason with the stubborn president'. They're trying to distance themselves from the sinking Bush Administration ahead of the elections.
They will never demand honesty or accountability, because they know very well that their party will be extinct the moment GOP election fraud is rooted out. They need the corrupt GOP machinery, but they also need some degree of political cover. Look for this scenario to be repeated over and over, as Bush is discarded to save the GOP.
