These web sites are an opportunity for us to act as gods in our own universe, an opportunity for each board owner to set the rules of the world exactly as he wishes.

Regardless of party or ideology, we see that each "god" acts pretty much the same as the next. Human nature, with its corresponding human vices and prejudices, is immutable.

These web boards, being all privately owned, have become a great way to stifle dissent and to inculcate intolerance in Americans. Americans run off into separate, well delineated camps and never become exposed to the opposite opinion. The Republicans run off lots of people with their intolerance, and I suspect that rough treatment of dissenters by the Democrats will yield similar results.

If we preach tolerance, we must be examples of it, in all places, at all times.
