     - Thick steel, no wonder it took awhile to cut through.  jaxx   May-31-10 07:10 PM   #65
        - A hydraulic line of some sort, is my guess.  Buns_of_Fire   May-31-10 07:24 PM   #72

  - It really was. We have Ed Markey to thank for it according to the website.  jaxx   May-31-10 07:11 PM   #66
  - Though we may be watching our doom  flamingdem   May-31-10 07:12 PM   #67
  - I know, that's the scary part.  jaxx   May-31-10 07:14 PM   #68
     - As am I. I'm of the belief that BP is doing all it can to get this under control. nt  gateley   May-31-10 07:19 PM   #70
        - I agree.  jaxx   May-31-10 07:21 PM   #71
           - More important for BP, it's costing them $$$ and added ire from their shareholders. nt  gateley   May-31-10 07:33 PM   #81
  - Agree - we're all "well why don't they put a lid on it?". Sounds simple, but now  gateley   May-31-10 07:17 PM   #69
     - Do you think the same guys are still running the ROV??  jaxx   May-31-10 07:25 PM   #73
     - I hope they have short shifts. I toured an air traffic control center once and  gateley   May-31-10 07:32 PM   #79
        - That's good to know. I'm feeling sorry for them.  jaxx   May-31-10 07:34 PM   #83
           - That's just conjecture on my part - I don't know the actual length of time these  gateley   May-31-10 07:40 PM   #92
     - Can you identify what they are cutting now? nt  flamingdem   May-31-10 07:26 PM   #74

     - You're welcome.  flamingdem   May-31-10 07:39 PM   #89
  - Looks like the riser pipe's flange is keeping the saw blade from  Subdivisions   May-31-10 07:34 PM   #84
  - I thought that too. It seems they need a saw with a larger diameter. n/t  Cleita   May-31-10 07:35 PM   #86
  - Lol! I guess he realized he could rotate the drill motor body up and solve that problem. n/t  Subdivisions   May-31-10 07:39 PM   #88
  - I was yelling at them to just give it a big ol' tug.  Buns_of_Fire   May-31-10 07:39 PM   #91
  - They got it!  jaxx   May-31-10 07:39 PM   #90
     - They're just clearing everything away from the base of that riser. They are  Subdivisions   May-31-10 07:42 PM   #93
     - Does this have to do with the new cap fitting on?  jaxx   May-31-10 07:45 PM   #96
     - Yes, which to me looks like it might have problems. That kink has distorted the  Subdivisions   May-31-10 07:49 PM   #102
        - I can't believe they wouldn't have forseen that it would be bent  flamingdem   May-31-10 07:51 PM   #105
        - It's very possible they've already taken that into consideration, if it is  Subdivisions   May-31-10 07:53 PM   #112
        - can they cut it down farther where it's rounder?  jaxx   May-31-10 07:52 PM   #108
           - I wondered about that myself and maybe a little. They will be very  Subdivisions   May-31-10 07:55 PM   #114
     - When they do that, all hell's gonna break loose.  Buns_of_Fire   May-31-10 07:46 PM   #97
        - That's my understanding, and that's what it sounds like when they say the flow  gateley   May-31-10 07:47 PM   #99
           - Then I guess what it's boiling down to is that there is no "Plan B" once that pipe's been cut.  Buns_of_Fire   May-31-10 08:45 PM   #146
     - To give them unobstructed access to the riser pipe?  Buns_of_Fire   May-31-10 07:43 PM   #94
        - Yes, exactly. They are clearing all the riser assembly parts away from the  Subdivisions   May-31-10 07:46 PM   #98
