70. This is how it works
NASCAR is a traveling sport. Every city or track they go to the announcers try and draw some correlation into the history of the city, town, state etc. where they happen to be racing. When NASCAR travels to Michigan, you often here the announcers say something like this, "Well boys we are in the home where Ford and GM were built, could be a big day for one of those makers." Richmond Virginia was home to the Confederate capital. It is simply the truth. In fact one of the major tourist selling point;'s of Richmond is the historic grounds of the Confederate capital. Furthermore if you asked most people on DU what one thing springs to mind when you mention the name Richmond, a good many people would answer capital of the confederacy. Stating something that is obvious to most people doesn't mean that you agree with it or even like it. If that was the case most of DU would be in trouble.
