However there is a huge difference. In this case, unlike in the film, the weapon worked perfectly. The weapons of the Apache gunship helicopter allow soldiers to blast people to bloody hash from a thousand yards away up in the sky. It allows you to see and accurately target individual human beings at distances which make them appear to the naked eye as no more than ants. They correct for bullet drop and windage by computer. The weapons systems are marvels of American technology, they just can't make you curious about the ants you're shooting at. They can't make you ask yourself if you should really be shooting at them. If you've accepted the idea that Iraqis are to be killed until they show abject submission and compliance, then 8 Iraqis standing in a street, without any American there to make their presence OK, must be a threat to wipe out, and the Apache AH-64's computers cannot override that kind of programming.
