40. People on DU would fall all over themselves opposing Single Payer. Many upscale Dems already do.

They already have health insurance and are primarily concerned with deadbeats (working poor who can afford premiums, aka the undeserving poor) increasing the cost of their premiums by making socialized ER visits (everyone knows socialized ER care is the reason costs are so high, right?) and making insurance too expensive for the "deserving" poor that need it. They figure "there should be a law", and there is. Insurance still too high for the "deserving poor"? That is the insurance industry's fault, since they are now required to sell insurance to the deserving poor, and the poor are required to buy it. why should government bail them out by assuming the costs of a failing health care system? "Everyone knows" means-tested programs like welfare and public housing only hurt the poor! "Only the Republicans and nutcase populists want single payer", they'd mutter. "Fucking crazies, just as bad as Ron Paul."
