36. Six degrees
six degrees from everyone you know is someone who can, and will help, or will point you to someone who can.

And I'm sorry, I hate the whole pop psychology thing, but when you say "It's not that my friends won't help.. it's that the vast majority of them can't...," you've slammed the door on that happening. "Self-fulfilling prophecy."

Also, how do you define "help?" Look at the responses to your thread. These are people who don't know you, who are offering some kind of wisdom or support in order to "help" you.

You've got to master that "fake it until you make it" attitude, then people will want to help you. You can never expect anyone to have more confidence in you than you have in yourself.

Dorothea Brande:

“All that is necessary to break the spell of inertia and frustration is this: Act as if it were impossible to fail. That is the talisman, the formula, the command of right about face which turns us from failure to success.”
