I think they knew if we were standing, we might be tempted to give him a swift kick. What might have worked for WASPs didn't work with the Irish.

Seriously, if they manage to convict this nurse and put her into prison for doing her job, I'd quit if I lived in Texas.

Of course, I saw what that state was a long time ago and went past it into NM when I left Boston. NM has been a decent fit.
