| 27. yes and no - I can learn and teach - but my current job has destroyed my IT career |
|
I've found that if you were good in IT, you pretty much can (and have) to do anything. It just means that I learn, and troubleshoot, and adjust quickly. ok, me PERSONALLY, i take a bit to adjust, but when I do, it's like I was meant to.
My current job will allow me to branch out in ways i never considered before. I'll still be doing technical stuff, but more creatively (build room control designs requires a LOT of creativity it turns out)
And at the end of the day I think I can go back to running my business teaching low-middle end technical skills to newbs (there are still a HUGE number of people younger than me who are not great with technology. the manuals anymore suck)
but yeah... my current job (and location) has seriously damaged my career, and my ability to retire comfortably.
