1. It is hard for us to contemplate today, in our time, the danger and difficulty that Dr. King
faced for taking that stand and for so eloquently and so passionately laying out the reasons for his decision.

He probably died as much for his anti-war stance as he did for his efforts to free all Americans from bondage. But he and Bobby Kennedy and numerous other leaders inspired millions of Americans to stand up to a morally corrupt government and finally end that terrible war. He was a brave man and a true patriot. I wish I had been more attuned to his words when he was alive.
