16. after 30 years of getting punked when will people finally wake up?
Just how much perpetual punking does it take to finally realize Dems have not ACTUALLY been a party of the working class? Even now there's a shit ton of people here that refuse to get it. How brainwashed do you have to be to excuse every single damn thing for DECADES that Dems have either done or refused to stop Repubs from doing that is detrimental to the working class before you FINALLY realize, you've been had?

People don't even KNOW anymore what the hell liberal, progressive and centrist are. NIXON was more of a liberal than almost all the Dems we have now! That's how far both parties have run to the right. And they both ran so far there is no party that represents the working masses whatsoever. Maybe it's gone on for so damn long that most people here weren't even alive during the time that Dems used to represent the working masses and Repubs weren't entirely corporatist either so they think that the Dem party as it is is normal.

I remember when the news reported the actual news and journalists worked for the people, not the government.

I remember when if you were a good worker you didn't have to worry about getting fired so the company could replace you with two part-time people so they could get out of paying health benefits and a decent salary.

I remember when if you had a job you got full health coverage for free with a $500/year deductible and insurance companies paid the bills.

I remember when there were no HMO's letting bean counters make medical decisions that over-road the doctors.

I remember when people got pensions, not 401K's.

I remember when Maidenform the bra company was found out to have a factory in Mexico so they could take advantage of cheap labor, and even Repubs chastised them so severely for stealing American's jobs for cheap labor that they had to close it and bring those jobs back to the US.

I remember when only one parent with an average paying job could be the sole bread-winner and own a home and raise a family - even a large family.

I remember when people worked 9-5 and got paid for an hour lunch break instead of 8-5 with no paid hour lunch break.

I remember when creditcard companies charged a normal interest rate and they didn't give them out to people with bad credit or no job - being able to GET a creditcard was a matter of pride.

I dunno, maybe if you haven't lived long enough to remember what it was like to not get thoroughly shit on by both political parties then you'd think what's going on now is normal. It isn't. And it isn't because BOTH parties ran to the right and little by little cut working people off at the knees until now we're standing on our bloody stumps and party loyalists are saying Thank You.
