Social breakdown? I really would NOT be surprised to see a wave of people, who have always been law-abiding before but are chronically or terminally ill, broke, and desperate, committing crimes with the HOPE of getting some jail time and the health care, rudimentary as it is, that comes with that.

It's already happened before. It could become much more common.

If I were penniless and had a serious health scare with no way of paying for it without bankrupting my whole family? I wouldn't want to really hurt anyone, but yeah, I MIGHT consider something like robbery with an unloaded gun or stealing a car. Am I alone? I bet I'm not.
