36. Heh. I'm no fan of that myself.
The thing that upsets me about it is that it deliberately puts people in a bind. Because you either have to put up with it, or be mean to kids, and it's not really their fault. Parents and schools should exercise some restraint.

Tangentially, if we had adequately funded public education, most of this charity hawking would be unnecessary. My daughter's school is constantly putting on charities of all different kinds to raise money. And we are privileged to live in a "well funded" district, compared to many.

Why is this? I wonder how many other parents pause to consider why it's OK to spend tons of time and money doing these charities, as opposed to just paying some additional taxes, properly funding their school district, and being done with it.
