50. Hey, no problem at all
To be honest, I do not currently have a strong opinion on gun control. I don't agree with your position, but I don't DISagree with it either. I do find the numbers of deaths caused by guns sobering however, and would like to point out that a strict by-the-numbers comparison to automobiles is fallacious. A better statistical comparison of the two would be deaths per owner. Everyone has cars, and uses them daily. Such cannot be said for guns. Furthermore, the numbers of people killed only describes the negative effect of guns, or cars. That must be measured against society's need to keep them, and it is on this point that guns begin to pale. Transportation is an absolutely mandatory element of our way of life, and there are no truly good alternatives to personal automobiles, especially in a nation as large as ours. Guns however offer very little to society that cannot be lived without.

In any case I must say that, as one who has yet to make up his mind, it is nice to know that there are people with whom I can discuss the issue without the typical spluttering and spewing. Thanks for that.

Take care of yourself Ghost. :hi:
