Basketball is a grunting game about constant motion. Golf is a game about driving around in clown cars, drinking, and schmoozing. Also, golf is a game in which there is no reason whatsoever people of different skill levels and athleticism cannot enjoy together, since one is ultimately competing against one's self.

In short, you'd have a case if it was a men's only golf outing. I doubt many deals are being made above the rim, at any rate.
