29. The most important thing a student needs to learn is how
to look up information. If a person doesn't know or isn't sure where "Life,Liberty...and the pursuit of happiness" comes from, the important thing is that he or she knows where to go to find out. No one can know everything. However, by the time a poli sci major makes it to a sophomore level college course, you would think he/she would be a little more familiar with the basics of American government. Still, this doesn't really surprise me. Students are asked to cram an awful lot of facts into their brains for any given test. How much is retained is another matter entirely.
