8. I love Chicago
I'm less enamored with its government right now. It has seriously lost its damn mind. The County Board plays these bizarre political games while the county health system goes right down the toilet.

It's also really easy to despise the local government, because no Republican anywhere is going to be in charge of things in the near future. So at least you can be highly disgruntled, but not worry that being disgusted with the lot will lead to Republican control. Democratic primaries are where the true voting happens.
