As far as candidate spouses are concerned she was the most driven I have seen. Young claims Edwards had as many as thirteen affairs on the trail. Wives know when there's that degree of infidelity. The press has stated they were apprehensive about reporting the rumors early on out of respect for Elizabeth and her health. I don't think Edwards wanted the nomination. I think he was pressured by her drive and ambition.
What a mess and legacy they've created for ALL the kids involved.
