It was part of my job as a nurse to get into people's heads to figure out what made them tick so that I could use what they had to offer in order to help them get better and stay out of the hospital.

Some of those people were angry Freeper types. Channeling that anger into a recovery effort was the goal.

Most of them have a great deal of both free floating anger and free floating anxiety. Both those things have been used very effectively by the far right and they're very obligingly hating everyone they've been given permission to hate. The sad part is that a lot of the anxiety and anger are perfectly justified. They just don't have what it takes upstairs to be able to figure out why they're anxious and who to be angry at.

I understand them pretty well. I won't accept their bullshit silently and I won't tolerate bad behavior, but I do understand where it's all coming from.
