15. What the Hatriots and Teabaggers practice is Nationalism, not Patriotism.
They're Authoritarians, and don't even know it. Their self-appointed leaders are mentally, morally and ethically deficient and personally weak, but that stolid 19% see only strength, resolve and justice. But you can't argue with a dining room table.

As I inferred in a post yesterday, President Obama can go on prime-time and speak coherently, intelligently and knowledgeably on the issues we're dealing with for an hour at a stretch. In contrast, the majority of Republicans get sound-bites, a spot at a round-table discussion or, at most, ten minutes of one-on-one with a very friendly interviewer holding a script. They've got nothing of substance to talk about and their current shtick is to simply oppose anything the Democrats propose. Too much exposure, and they're shown to be ignorant, petty, vindictive and wholly uninformed. All they've got is "Whatever it takes to prevent this President and this Congress from having a win or looking competent."

Ask a Republican who opposes cutting the science fiction missile shield in Eastern Europe HOW it's going to threaten the security of Europe and their best answer will likely be "because it will". No matter how much money we throw at it, it'll probably never work, but just the same, it's a vital international security issue for the Republics because THIS President sees it for what it is - an incredibly expensive, unworkable and antagonistic holdover from BushCo*. Same with health care reform. They know the people back home are suffering, yet oppose the insurance industry written package that Bacaus just dropped in their laps because, even it it's what their handlers (the insurance companies) want, any bill that passes this Congress (no matter how shitty) would be points for the (D)s.

Then again, maybe it IS us.

Nah.
