isn't kind to those who turn the other cheek against rampant extremism like we are seeing from republicans today. Presidents only have a two years to get things done. The first year is spent setting policy and agenda. The next two are dealing with policy and congress, and even this involves mid-term elections and campaigning. The last year is campaigning.

Obama has fumbled the first year. Badly. By inaction and obsessive attention to republicans, he gives the appearance of being weak and this is a magnet for bullies.

I know what you are saying - but the cinderella story only works in movies.

They won't divide - republicans work in lock step and only respect a unitary government. In fact, it is the democrats who are becoming divided over inaction.

Politically, what you are suggesting is suicide although it would appear Obama is hoping on a fairy godmother to help him out the hole he is digging.
