I am about 600 or 700 miles from DC, in Maine. I used to spend a lot of time there painting murals....
but I am kept close to home ( Maine) by my SS income now!)
I would like to write/illustrate a children's picture book about Helen Thomas. I feel it is VERY IMPORTANT for children to be guided in the direction of GOOD VALUES. I have read the books that she has written (more than once).
I picture something similar to Barbara Cooney's Emily ( Dickenson) or Eleanor ( Roosevelt).
I have an excellent resume, last year I illustrated a book of the first naval battle during the Revolutionary War, for the Machias Historic Association.
Can you please present the idea to Ms Thomas, if it is a reality I have friends in the DC area I could stay with and I could manage to scrape up the travel money. I e-mailed her several years ago and never got an answer.
BTW, I too LOVE Lebanese food! The Tayoun Family ran a restaurant in Philadelphia, where we ate frequently, Poppa Tayoun shared his hummus recipe with me...........and I make the best hummus in the state of Maine!
