69. I agree with most of your post, Tangerine LaBamba, except for the "Well, weren't we
all wrong about THAT?"

In fact, we have come a long way as a nation. It's this ugly tumor that's showing that puts the blight on that progress. These nuts carrying guns to rallies are the cancer you describe, but they are not representative of most of us. They are some of the worst examples of what the far limits of our freedoms actually represent.

People like that are what was aptly described by our NCO's in the army as "that 10 percent". There's always that 10 percent of almost any group who just cannot go along with the program, who have to flaunt the rules, test the limits, be the buttheads who make it hard on the rest of us.

I fervently hope you're wrong about anything happening to President Obama. While these nutjobs at the rallies disturb us deeply, they are bullies and "dickless wonders" as you describe them. Their craving for attention and their need to be "real men" just exposes their insecurities and sickness. Even if one or two or more of them were foolish or suicidal enough to attempt to even unholster their firearms or point a weapon at someone, they would be culled from the herd mercilessly and quickly by the police and/or SS who are just waiting for the chance to bust a cap or ten in their sorry asses.

As you point out, the Democratic leadership once again falls all over itself in being witless, cowardly, and servile. Sad and inexplicable as it is to contemplate, that seems to be the legacy we Dems will have to face for years to come.
