Perhaps there was some other spy operations that weren't disclosed that they were also doing at the time.

Perhaps this was all a big cover for Grossman earlier. And there are quite a few things that connect Wilson to Grossman. Here's one of a number of articles that connect these two floating on the web more than many out there would care to admit...

For some of us, we felt that the line of Valerie Plame being outed was just about getting revenge on Joseph Wilson, and not to shut down Brewster Jennings that she was in charge of at the time. Perhaps now it might have been more to confuse the masses as to when Brewster Jennings was actually exposed and shut down and the circumstances leading up to it.
