We know what our POW says is under duress. Why did Shrub-CHEENEE think THEIR torture was different?

Whenever we in America have seen and heard one of our military as POWs saying things, we have immediately and automatically KNOWN that whatever the content, it was said under duress up to and including torture, and DISCOUNTED it, and we have searched the facial expressions for the "real" message. So WHAT in the world EVER gave Shrub-CHEENEE-TENET and the rest the fucking idea that TORTURE would yield TRUTH?!1
