54. You can thank Bill Clinton and Al Gore for SSA efficiencies.
I was there during the Clinton Reinventing Government era...and it worked wonders in most of the service agencies. You can also thank the employees of the SSA whose ideas were put into practice. It was the beginning of "putting people first" throughout the government. A few agencies have gone back to the old Republican model of "putting business first" but SSA has been on a roll ever since. You will also be delighted with Medicare services...no visit to the doctor is a problem because of coverage. If the doctor accepts Medicare (and most of the really dedicated good doctors do) you will never have to worry.
