22. Actually SS got it right, it was my previous employer (DOE) that fucked it up
I retired early under an obscure provision of a buy-out program (I didn't take a buy out and was much better off for it), and in that program DOE has been paying me an amount that was supposed to be equal to what Social Security would have paid me had I been of sufficient age when I retired. It was DOE who underpaid me by about a third every single for just about 5 years, and there isn't a dam thing I can do about it. By my reckoning they, DOE, underpaid me something on the order of $40-50,000. I had always suspected that this was the case because my annual notice from the Social Security Administration always gave a monthly figure that was about a third more than I was receiving. So it was SS that got it right and DOE that got it wrong.
