11. Back in 1968 my mother didn't think Americans would be stupid enough to elect Reagan as President
And yet 12 years later...

I remember this because she told me way back then that there were only two men that would make her decide to leave the country if they ever got elected President: George Wallace and Ronald Reagan.

I believe at the time she felt the prospects of either's being elected President were equally preposterous. We stayed. And I'm not convinced that was a good idea.
